It has been an eventful 89 years of dairy marketing and some of the most iconic images in the history of advertising were generated during this time. This poster is from the 1930s.

Posters and campaigns about the health benefits of milk and dairy were used to inform and improve the health of the population before the existence of the NHS. This campaign is from the 1940s.

Many of the old adverts, promotional and educational materials have been collected and preserved and are now housed at the History of Advertising Trust in Norfolk. This poster is from the 1950s.

The ‘Drinka Pinta Milka Day’ slogan of the 1960s entered the national consciousness and earned a place in the dictionary.

“The Dairy Council’s historical archive is one of the most fascinating and dynamic living archives in the UK,” says History of Advertising Trust chief executive Barry Cox. This campaign is from the 1970s.

By the 1980s the slogan had become ‘Gotta Lotta Bottle’.

“With its wealth of historical and social content, the archive tells the story of everyday life in Britain, and is indeed a national treasure,” says Barry Cox. This campaign is from the 1990s.

In 2000, we were urged to drink ‘The White Stuff’.

The recent TV and consumer press advertising campaign for the Muller Healthy Balance Corner brand was part of a major push to increase the consumption of yogurt at breakfast.
