Yogurt/dessert innovation – December 09/January 10

The latest yogurt and dessert products from Dairy Innovation issue 28.

Ben and Jerry’s has named its newest ice cream flavour, Maple Blondie, after local champion snowboarder Hannah Teter. Part of the sales proceeds will go to Teter’s charity, Hannah’s Gold, that funds humanitarian projects in Africa.

Fairly Nuts is a new flavour of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream created by the ‘Do the World a Flavour’ competition winner Toni Gunnison. The ice cream contains Fairtrade praline almonds, caramel ice cream and caramel sauce.

Ja is the name of a new low fat (0.3%), low sugar yogurt from Tine Dairy in Norway. It comes in 0.5 litre tubs and smaller four-pack formats in three flavours: vanilla …

German dairy company Frischli has launched a 30th anniversary special edition product – a vanilla 6x50g family pack. The pack includes a competition for consumers to win one of 30 Gold Talers – celebratory gold coins.

Japan’s Meiji Dairies and France’s Yoplait Group have formed a partnership and announced the launch of new yogurt products in March 2010. The products will include a fruit yogurt in a tube, available in a single flavour two-pack …

Hiland Dairy in the US has expanded its yogurt line to include Health Wise probiotic yogurts. They are available in multi-packs of four 4oz cups in four flavours: vanilla, pomegranate cherry, strawberry and pomegranate blueberry.

Mullerlight, from Muller UK, has a new flavour to add to its Limited Edition fat free yogurt range – Lemon Cheesecake.

Mullerlight has also added Vanilla with Chocolate sprinkles and a Black Cherry underlayer to its full range of Mullerlight yogurts. This flavour was previously only available as part of a variety six-pack.

The cream yogurt Florian, from Czech dairy company Olma, is now available in K2 cups from Greiner Packaging that will emphasise the freshness and quality of the product.

FrieslandCampina has added two new seasonal cream pudding varieties to its 150g Landliebe dairy product range in Germany: Baked Apple and Spekulatius – a popular cinnamon, almond and ginger butter cookie.

Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream has launched Slow Churned Hot Cocoa – sweet and fluffy marshmallows swirled into a light creamy chocolate ice cream. It contains half the fat and a third less calories than regular ice cream.

Carte D’Or has launched a range of frozen desserts presented in patisserie boxes framed by a gold strip to promote the premium positioning of the new products. The desserts include Chocolate Truffle and Raspberry Torte …
