Anheuser-Busch’s Brazilian beverage arm, AmBev, has agreed to acquire a Rio de Janeiro-based producer of fruit juices for an undisclosed sum.
In a short statement made to news agency Reuters, AmBev said that the deal for Do Bem would help to strengthen its non-alcoholic beverages portfolio and enable it to reach a new base of consumers.
Do Bem manufactures a range of juices including apple juice, orange juice, tangerine juice, grape juice, and mixed pineapple with mint. The company is also behind lines of lemonade, packaged tea and matcha green tea products, coconut water, and several “detox” juices.
As well as being available in Brazil, its products are exported to markets such as Paraguay and Colombia, and sent further afield to Spain, Portugal and France.
The company also makes natural and nutritious snack bars, made using nuts, which are available in just nuts, banana, cranberry and cocoa, apricot, and apple and cinnamon flavours.
Last year, British company Britvic paid just over £120m to acquire Brazilian liquid concentrates and ready-to-drink nectar drinks producer Ebba.
