Los Angeles-based Grass Fed Coffee has launched a new campaign on crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, as it seeks to fund the world’s first ready-to-drink butter coffee.
The beverage combines organic and Fairtrade cold-brewed coffee with grass-fed butter, organic chicory and distilled medium-chain triglycerides (MCT). The butter provides a slow release of caffeine and resets the body’s metabolism, the MCT oil helps to burn fat and curb appetitie, and the cold-brewed coffee provides low acidity and energy, the company explained.
The American start-up has been working with multiple beverage companies for the past 14 months in an effort to see whether its home-brewed coffee was scalable, and it has already gone through 17 different versions of the formula for its butter coffee.
Now the company is seeking $15,000 to help finance an initial production run – and, at the time of writing, had raised more than $9,500 from over 170 individual backers.
The company has produced a promotional video to accompany the Kickstarter campaign, which shows how butter coffee is being touted as the biggest thing in coffee.
