Pan-Asian food brand Annie Chun’s has introduced new Korean barbecue-flavoured seaweed crisps and two new organic seaweed snacks for the US market.
The organic seaweed snacks, available for $1.99 each, consist of lightly seasoned and roasted sheets of organic nori, flavoured either with sesame oil and salt or authentic wasabi. The two variants are free from gluten and dairy, and contain only 30 calories per serving.
The Korean BBQ seaweed crisps are described as “a tasty combination of sweet, smoky and savoury”, made by layering Annie Chun’s seaweed snacks on top of crispy brown rice chips and then oven-baking them to perfection for a satisfying crunch. Providing 80 calories per serving, the new vegan offering is free from gluten, cholesterol and trans-fat, and has a retail price of $3.49.
The two new lines will be launched officially at Expo West, where the brand will also be kicking off its Crunch Face social media campaign to encourage fans of the brand to share selfies of their best “crunch face” while snacking on Annie Chun’s seaweed crisps.
Annie Chun’s head of corporate marketing and planning Nayoung Shin said: “As consumers continue to gravitate towards healthy snacking, we at Annie Chun’s have taken this as an opportunity to innovate our most popular products to align with current demands. With the development of organic seaweed snacks and Korean BBQ seaweed crisps, we’ve given our consumers even more healthy and delicious options to satisfy any snack craving, without departing from healthy eating habits.”
