An artisan spirit company from the UK has added to its range of fruit liqueurs and whisky with the launch of a new flavoured gin.
North Yorkshire-based The Little Red Berry Company has built on the success of its existing elderflower and cucumber-flavoured gin with the addition of a lemon and thyme variant, made from a refreshing combination of London dry gin, organic lemon cordial from East Yorkshire’s Side Oven Bakery, and an infusion of thyme from Thirsk-based Herbs Unlimited.
A 70cl bottle of lemon and thyme-flavoured gin will cost £29.95, available from festivals, independent retailers and online.
The Little Red Berry Company founder Rachel Jamieson said: “We wanted to create something a bit different to complement our current range of liqueurs. Liqueurs that are made in the traditional way by steeping the fruit contain quite a lot of added sugar. The new flavoured gins have less sugar and a fresh taste that makes them work very well in a gin and tonic-style drink.
“We are always keen to create something new for our customers. We are proud to have developed a great customer base over the last few years and we want be able to offer them something new, different and exciting.
“Working with thyme was a new challenge for us as it posed different methods for production, but it lends a beautifully herby flavour that is synonymous with a quintessentially British summer garden. We’re excited about it as we believe it’s an unusual flavour combination that’s not yet locally available.”
The artisan distiller has grown to produce approximately 18,000 of bottles of liqueur and gin in small batches every year, sourcing the fruits and raw materials for the craft drinks from local producers wherever possible.
