Asda launches new transactional app

Asda has launched its first transactional mobile app allowing customers to buy Asda groceries online and price check the cost of their shopping using an iPhone.
Customers can now download the Asda app onto their iPhone and register, shop and amend an existing order or delivery slot up until 10pm the day before their delivery is due.
The app also has an integrated scanner enabling customers to add new products to their basket by scanning the barcode, the company said.
The app enables shoppers to do a price check on the move, bringing in the functionality of the existing Asda Price Guarantee iPhone app first launched in October 2010. Customers can use details from store or online delivery receipts to check the cost of their Asda groceries against Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons and Waitrose, and if it’s not 10% cheaper at Asda, they’ll get a voucher to make it so.
The new app also includes a mobile store locator, offering maps and directions so customers can easily find their nearest Asda when they are out and about. The Asda app was an international collaboration between Asda and the Walmart mobile team based in the US.
