The UK arm of Austrian dairy Nom has announced the completion of its new £60m state-of-the-art Shropshire dairy, where it aims to produce more than 200 million units by the end of the year, including its new yogurt brand currently being rolled out across the UK – ‘Nom Naturally’.

The 24-acre site is designed to be the most energy efficient dairy in the UK, and has a dedicated heat recovery system to enable all heat lost from equipment such as boilers and air compressors to be reclaimed and reused.

Located in the milk-rich area of Telford, the fully automated dairy has the current capacity for five filling lines, is equipped with the latest processing equipment and was built with high-quality, natural recipe production in mind.

Nom has high-level BRC accreditations and is currently rolling out the launch of its first ever UK yogurt range – Nom Naturally – which has already been snapped up by the likes of Morrisons.

Nom Dairy UK’s CEO, David Potts, said: “The strategy behind the new Nom UK dairy and launch of the Nom Naturally brand, is that currently over half of UK dairy products are imported, so there’s a massive opportunity to add value to customers by supplying locally.”

“Our ‘Naturally Good’ recipes combine simple, yet delicious natural ingredients, including milk from UK dairies, specially selected fruit and probiotic yogurt cultures,” said Marten Schlender, plant director at Nom. “In place of artificial enhancers, we use state-of-the-art technology at our Shropshire dairy to ensure that our products are deliciously thick and creamy.”
