Pastry specialist Pidy has launched a new series of spicy and curry-flavoured macarons.
Both the new varieties of macaron are 3.5cm in size and delivered in 96 portions to a case. The spicy and curry-flavoured delicacies have a distinctive appearance and are light, moist and crumbly in texture, Pidy said. They have a mild flavour with a very subtle spicy kick and both products, when filled, will offer customers something that will impress diners.
The macarons can be filled with a number of savoury and spicy fillings from tomato and avocado mousse to hummus, ricotta mousse and a variety of fish and seafood fillings, the Belgian food business added.
Pidy UK general manager Robert Whittle said: “We are very excited about our spicy and curry-flavoured macarons, they are pioneering and can offer so many savoury, spicy and even sweet and savoury taste sensations. We have had some great feedback from clients and customers who use our macarons as canapés, decorations and toppings on a variety of dishes. The distinctive flavour of the macarons are an ideal fit for our UK customers as the British market is so dynamic in its flavour profile; the spicy and curry-flavoured macarons will appeal to caterers as customers as they strive for more exciting taste sensations. Pidy always pride themselves on staying ahead of food trends and the flavours of the macarons will enable our clients to create futuristic flavour fusions.”
Pidy has also launched a range of larger-sized macarons due to the popularity of the 3.5cm versions. Pidy’s 7.5 cm macarons are now available in vanilla, chocolate and raspberry flavours. These larger sweet Macarons are supplied to the wholesale sector and to online providers in 48 portion pack cases.
The larger sweet Macarons can be used by caterers and clients as a dessert option, as opposed to a canapé or decoration, giving customers a unique, tasty and light dessert option.
