Gluten-free brand BFree has announced that its Soft White Sandwich Loaf, Brown Seeded Sandwich Loaf, Brown Seeded Rolls and Soft White Rolls are to be suitable for vegans. This makes the entire range vegan-friendly from mid-November 2014 as it removes egg from its product range. The move will see the brand become the only vegan-friendly gluten-free bakery brand within the UK market.
With many people now following a vegan diet either through food intolerances or due to a healthy lifestyle, the move to go vegan-friendly means the brand becomes suitable for everyone and cements the brand’s credentials within the category.
Since the company started in 2011, it has seen significant growth in the market and has reported that turnover has increased by 300% in the last year. It is now being recognised as the leading fresh, gluten-free bread brand in Ireland.
In addition to becoming vegan-friendly, the company has announced that its international expansion has grown further as it launches its Multigrain Wraps into the Co-op retail chain in Sweden this October, and will be increasing distribution across Australia to 900 Woolworths stores, and furthermore launching the Wraps into New Zealand.
“We are so pleased with how we have progressed as a company in the last year,” said general manager Alex Murphy. “The move to vegan comes after we noticed a gap in the market. While other brands were free from gluten, they were not suitable for everyone. We wanted to create great-tasting products that literally anyone can enjoy.
“It’s fantastic that we have been stocked in Tesco Express and the success we have had internationally, as it shows there is a clear consumer demand for free-from products which continues to soar.”
The BFree vegan friendly range will now include Soft White Sandwich Loaf, Brown Seeded Sandwich Loaf, Brown Seeded Rolls and Soft White Rolls and will be available from Asda and Tesco Express stores in the UK from mid-November 2014 with an RRP of £2.20 to £2.80.
