The Bibo dispenses filtered, hot and chilled water, eliminating the need for a kettle and a filter jug.
“Technology is moving forward so quickly and it’s great to see the UK playing an important part,” said Jonathan Brown, CEO of Bibo. “Increasingly, consumer appliances are being combined for convenience and to create more space at home.”
The technology behind Bibo means the water is filtered several times to guarantee purity and taste. The first filtration removes chlorine to give the water a clean taste. The Bibo further filters the water to remove traces of heavy metals, pesticides and other chemicals before a powerful UV filter makes sure the water is free from any bacteria.
The Bibo water dispenser connects to the home water mains supply. It can provide seven litres of chilled water and 15 litres of hot water each hour, and the water is filtered several times to guarantee purity and taste.
The dispenser features a hygienic touch panel and colour TFT display. It also has a removable, dishwasher-safe drip tray that can be put to one side to fill large jugs, coffee pots and refillable water bottles.
“There’s no doubt that time and space are two of the most valuable commodities we have,” said Brown. “For as little as 15p a day, the Bibo means there’s no need to wait around to make a cup of tea or boil the kettle to cook pasta or to store a separate water filter in the fridge for easy access to pure, chilled water. As a result, we hope that the Bibo will soon be considered an essential element of the UK kitchen.”
The Bibo will retail at £363, which includes installation, a comprehensive one-year warranty and two filters. Customers will be contacted within 24 hours of purchase to arrange free installation by a Bibo technician.
Bibo was founded in 2011 by Jonathan Brown. It’s based in Oxfordshire and has four employees. The company has launched its first product, Bibo, a filtered hot and cold water dispenser for homes in June 2011.
Jonathan Brown led the introduction of bottled water coolers to the UK market in the late 1980s with the Crystal Spring brand, which became the largest European bottler of spring water for the cooler market, bought by Hutchison Whampoa in 1998.
Jonathan went on to establish Connect Water Systems, one of the UK’s largest suppliers of filtered mains water dispensers for the workplace. Supplying water coolers, drinking fountains and hot water dispensers that filter water taken from the mains supply, Connect soon became one of the leading business to business filtered water cooler businesses in the UK, encouraging 200,000 companies across the country to move away from bottled water.
Following the success of Connect and inspired by the environmental benefits of enabling every home to have their mains water filtered and purified for drinking, Jonathan has joined forces with Lindsay Willott to set up Bibo.
Founder of the Marketing Practice, one of the top 20 independent marketing agencies in the UK, Lindsay is equally committed to finding environmentally sustainable products.
