The UK’s first coconut milk yogurt has launched in France with a series of listings across Paris with Cojean – and the product has been so well received that the healthy food eatery has had to increase the amount it orders.
In the first two weeks, the chain has increased its weekly order of Co Yo five-fold, from 300kg to 2 tonnes. Made with 100% natural coconut milk, the dairy-free yogurt is stocked in 24 outlets of Cojean and is used in its new recipe for Coco Paradise – a yogurt and granola dish that is vegan-friendly and completely free of gluten.
Cojean vice president Frederic Maquair said: “Sales have been exceptional, even greater than we anticipated. We have an increasing demand for dairy-free, gourmet products and Co Yo is proving to be the perfect partner for supporting our customers’ needs.
“We chose Co Yo to create our new range for this summer, because we were looking for an alternative to milk yogurt. We’re delighted to have discovered this fantastic range.“
The brand has plans to expand its portfolio with new product developments and will move into a new factory to cater to growing demand. When the company moved into its current facility last year, 14,000 pots of Co Yo were being packed every week – but that figure now stands at more than 70,000 pots per week, just one year on.
Co Yo founder Bethany Eaton said: “Our retail sales are good, business is booming and if retail is good then foodservice demand is likely to continue its growth as consumers want to enjoy what they like to eat at home when eating out.
“We have had amazing results in the UK and we’re tremendously excited for Co Yo to go International. Going by the strength of response to our initial launch in France, we hope to keep making in-roads into Europe. The interest from France and Holland has really given us the confidence to kick-on and build our business.”
