A British company has launched a new range of biscotti, created as the ultimate accompaniment to hot drinks.
The line-up from The Great British Biscotti Co includes simply almond, chunky Belgian chocolate, and coffee and walnut varieties. A honey, lemon and ginger biscuit was established to placate disaffected tea lovers who also wanted a slice of the action.
Brand founder Paul Rostand said: “There’s been a lot of false hype relating to the supposed dunking prowess of traditional Rich Teas and Digestives, which is why the Great British Biscotti will be entering this year’s World Biscuit Dunking Championships to debunk these inaccurate urban myths.”
The brand pointed out that the tradition of dunking biscuits in tea is supposedly inherited from the Roman, who used hot drinks to soften their ‘double-baked’ biscotti.
As the originator of the trend, it is ‘the perfect time’ to remind Britons of the pleasure in dipping their biscuits in coffee or tea.
Great British Biscotti will lend a British twist to the continental biscuit, while positioning itself as a more natural and less processed alternative to traditional teatime offerings.
