Bucher Leichtbau and SkyTender Solutions have agreed a partnership to launch a unique in-built beverage dispenser that will enable airlines to significantly improve the quality of on-board drinking water while reducing maintenance and waste treatment costs.
The new SkyDrinx solution builds on SkyTender’s mobile beverage trolley, which uses a post-mix system to produce and serve flavoured hot, cold and carbonated drinks with a single command of the touchscreen, right in front of the passenger.
Together, the mobile trolley and galley insert represent a complete system to cover on-board beverage services for all passenger classes and types of service, including self-service beyond regular service periods on-board, Bucher said. The system also encompasses tracking and reporting, providing complete transparency of consumption data as a valuable basis for forecasting and order management.
SkyDrinx can draw its water either filled on the ground after purification or from the on-board water supply by means of a sophisticated filtration system.
Combined with Bucher’s extensive lightweight construction experience and galley knowhow, the new galley insert will be developed to suit ARINC standards.
“Our unique system ensures optimal usage of resources along the entire supply chain,” said SkyTender CEO Hanns R Rech. “Through optimisation of weight, space, waste and over-catering as well as elimination of beverage packing, it adds a new dimension to airlines’ continuous strive for carbon footprint reduction.”
