BWCA launches new POU BPEC/WRAS training course
At the last BWCA general meeting, Kevin Matthews of Angel Springs presented the successful launch and approval of the BPEC/WRAS training course at the newly opened City of Wolverhampton College.
This course has been under development for more than a year, and meets the legislation for England and Wales ‘The Water Supply regulations 1999′ and Scotland ‘Water Byelaws 2000′, and is recognised by government organisations.
The BWCA BPEC/WRAS 12 module course includes:
- Introduction & Legislation
- Water Regulations
- Materials and substances in contact with water
- Requirements for water fitting
- Water system design & installation
- Water system commissioning
- Prevention of cross connection to unwholesome water (drinking water)
- Back flow prevention
- Cold water services
- Hot water services
- Sanitary appliances and water for outside use.
The BWCA already has 66 trained and qualified BWCA engineers, and has many more who have committed to several days’ pre-coursework before the full day’s training. The engineers have a morning of theory and an afternoon of hands-on practical work with live mains water in 15mm, 22mm copper, small bore plastic pipe work and electrics.
The BWCA is also looking into distance learning and ensuring its members take the lead and continue to raise the industry standards.
