The Indian company, which signed the license agreement with Capri-Sun in 2012, has now set up a manufacturing facility in Hyderabad involving an investment of Rs 50 crore to produce the Swiss firm’s juice drinks.
Under the agreement, the Indian company can produce and also distribute Capri-Sun juices in the neighbouring countries of Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and Maldives.
Initially, four flavours will be marketed: mango, orange, apple and mixed fruit.
Addressing the media in Hyderabad, Capri-Sun chief executive officer Carsten Kaisig said the company was upbeat on the business opportunity in India given its 1.2 billion population and a large population under the age of 15 years. “We know it is very challenging in India in terms of culture and market but we are here for a long term and are confident of the prospects of our business in this country.”
