Chicken Tonight and Ragu to undergo redesign

Unilever has given its Chicken Tonight and Ragu ranges over to Symington's after almost a year of putting the brands up for sale.

Unilever's Dutch factory in Oss will continue to produce both brands for at least the next three years, meaning no staff will be forced to move to Symington's.

The recipes will also be taken upmarket, hoping to attract a wider consumer. Chicken Tonight will also be getting a revamp.

Symington's marketing director, Henrik Pade, said: "Our aim is to redevelop the ranges to ensure that they are real alternatives to the market leaders in the cooking sauce category. We want them to perform as challenger brands and hope consumers will become loyal to the brands once again, with the sauces forming an integral part of a family's weekly shop."
