A number of our team attended the event, including Jesus Luna Lopez of Beverage Innovation magazine, Maureen Byrne and Claire Rowan of Food & Beverage International and Dairy Innovation, and Karen Collins of Water Innovation magazine.
Innovations I found worthy of note were Volpak and Italpak, who have together developed a new pouch with integral straw for cost savings and ease of use.
There were also Zalkin’s beverage caps, including a large, easy-grip cap for drinking on the go (designed for a Chinese beverage company) and the new PET wine cap (not cork), which I can see being used for premium beverages before too long.
The PermMate package permeability tester from Denmark’s PBI Dansensor was also on show. It was launched just last month, and is used for accurately testing the integrity of juice and dairy packaging – a growth sector.
One stand with a new look was that of Russia’s Molopak – modern packaging technology in cartons, illustrated using novel 3D effect posters.
