The Coca-Cola Company has been given a green light to set up a factory in Burma.
Operating under the name Cola Pinya Beverages Myanmar Ltd, it will begin production at four factories in Rangoon, including a new one on the outskirts of Burma’s commercial capital.
The Myanmar Investment Commission approved the move on 28 December. The Coca-Cola Company will operate in Burma as a partner in a joint venture with the local Pinya Manufacturing Co Ltd.
In September 2012, for the first time in more than 60 years, The Coca-Cola Company made its first delivery of Coca-Cola to local customers in Yangon, Myanmar.
