Coca-Cola, a presenting partner of the Olympic Torch Relay, will host a star-studded concert in the capital to mark the end of the Torch’s route across the UK.
The concert will give thousands more people the chance to be part of London 2012 celebrations, and will be headlined by award-winning rapper Dizzee Rascal, and feature chart-topping boy band The Wanted, British rock band You Me At Six, platinum selling singer-songwriter Eliza Doolittle, and internationally acclaimed Mark Ronson & Katy B – who will be performing the song for the Coca-Cola Olympic Games campaign, Anywhere in the World.
Last month, Coca-Cola announced it is helping the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) and host Local Authorities to bring music and celebration to every corner of the UK through the Olympic Torch Relay’s Evening Celebrations.
The line-ups for three of the Special City Celebrations – presented by Coca-Cola – in Cardiff, Glasgow and Leeds have also been revealed, with details on the artists performing in Birmingham to be announced shortly.
James Williams, director, Olympic Torch Relay, Coca-Cola Northwest Europe & Nordics, said: “As a Presenting Partner of the Olympic Torch Relay we have a fantastic opportunity to bring music and celebration to every corner of the UK as the Olympic Flame progresses its journey. We are taking some of the nation’s best loved musical talent on the road for an incredible 66 night tour to give young people across the country the chance to Move to the Beat and participate in the magic of London 2012.
“We’re encouraging everyone to join in celebrating the Future Flames who have carried the Olympic Flame through their communities by registering for tickets to their local events and the finale celebration concert in London’s Hyde Park.”
Anywhere In the World – the song created by Mark Ronson and Katy B – will be released for sale on 13 May, and fuses the actual sounds of Olympic sports with music in Mark’s syle.
Dizzee Rascal said: “I’m looking forward to hooking up with Coke to bring music to Hyde Park at the end of the Olympic Torch Relay. Young people out there make a really positive difference and now we can recognise and celebrate them with music. It’s wicked so get a ticket, see you there.”
