The New England Journal of Medicine has released a National Institutes of Health (NIH) study linking coffee consumption to lower mortality rates.

What the NIH study didn’t include was a cause-and-effect analysis, because medical researchers don’t seem to understand (yet) why coffee lowers mortality rates, according to Don Francisco’s Coffee.

Don Francisco’s found that 60% of coffee drinkers feel most inspired during their morning coffee break.

Don Francisco’s Inspiration Index also reveals that:

  • 39% of Americans classify themselves as 'heavy' coffee drinkers.
  • 42% of married mums classify themselves as 'heavy' coffee drinkers.
  • Heavy coffee drinkers are more likely than other coffee drinkers and non-drinkers to say they are inspired by a desire to 'give back' to others.
  • Most coffee drinkers would rather give up alcohol, chocolate and movies than relinquish their coffee habit.
