Dannon will vacate its current headquarters and move around 2 miles away.
Danone North America has confirmed that it will move its headquarters from Greenburgh, New York to White Plains, New York.
The two sites are less than three miles away, but the move will involve the transfer of around 400 existing jobs. It is also expected to create around 150 new jobs over the course of the next five years.
It comes after plans for a 12,000-square-foot food laboratory and more than 62,000 square feet of office space were approved in the heart of White Plains, which is around 20 miles northeast of the centre of New York City.
Dessislava Miteva, chief people officer and vice-president of human resources for Danone North America, was quoted by local press as saying that the move would “significantly update and upgrade the setting in which we work, which will allow us to continue to be a significant contributor to community stability and growth.”
Local representatives also celebrated Danone’s decision not to move its North American headquarters out of Westchester County.
Howard Zemsky, president and CEO of Empire State Development, said that the company had a ‘strong economic and community presence’ in the local area.
