The wonderful bakery where we had our morning breakfast had a novel replacement for the ubiquitous plastic pots for milk that are so fiddly to open, and not great when it comes to environmental sustainability.
The ‘coffee with milk’ came ready made, but if you ordered tea, a little chocolate pot the size of your thumb arrived, containing milk, and on a saucer in a little fluted paper case. I was intrigued and asked the owner about it, who said that they bought trays of 24 of these ‘coques au chocolat’ from a Swiss food sundries supplier called Pistor.
The chocolate was of good quality and the tiny paper case easy to dispose of once the milk had been used up. And no, it didn’t melt or crack. In fact, it was a delicious boost to start the working day.
We all spend a lot of our time thinking of new developments and looking for easy ways to reduce waste and improve the environment. It’s early days but this looks like being a hit. Chocolate and sustainability all rolled into one cute little package. What’s not to love?
