Timed to follow a year on from the introduction of the EU Circular Economy package of reforms, this seminar will discuss the next steps for implementing measures to improve resource efficiency and the future for the waste sector in the UK.
Delegates will assess strategies for changing consumer behaviours and the effects of the rollout in 2016 of minimum pricing for plastic bags in England, alongside ways in which sustainability can be embedded at all levels of the supply chain. Further sessions will examine the latest developments in energy from waste, the progress towards increasing recycling rates on a local and commercial level, and innovative business models in the circular economy.
Keynote presentations come from officials from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for the Environment, Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee; and the Scottish and Welsh governments.
