Cook chose Faerch Plast for a number of key reasons, most notably the consistently high performance of its specially developed Frost CPET material in extreme temperatures – down to -4F (-20ºC).
“Although we’ve used Faerch Plast for over 12 years, it wasn’t until they developed the Frost CPET specifically for frozen meal concepts that we could consider moving more of the CPET business across,” said Tony Mayer, head of operational procurement at Cook. “The contract with our previous supplier came to an end last year, so we invited other packaging companies to submit tenders. We’re pleased to say that Faerch Plast won the tender.
“Making them sole supplier was an unusual move for us, as we prefer not to rely on one company. However, based on our past experience of Faerch Plast’s excellent products and service delivery, as well as competitive pricing, we were confident and happy to award them exclusivity. The fact that the trays are manufactured at their plant in Durham with flexible turnaround times was another influencing factor.”
