Big Bear Confectionery has announced plans to launch a limited-edition Union Jack design for its Glacier Fruits boiled sweets.
The special-edition pack is being launched to mark a summer of sport and celebration, from the 2016 Olympics to the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations and the European Championship. Available since the end of May, the sweets will also be on shelf during the EU referendum, when voters in the UK will take to the polls to decide whether the country should remain a member of the European Union.
The pack contains three flavours of boiled sweet: raspberry, cloudy lemonade and blueberry.
Ross Stanley, head of trade marketing for Big Bear Confectionery, said: “These sweets offer a real fun factor, and celebrate all things British with a big summer of sports and events ahead. The country really comes alive in the summer and everyone rallies together to support Great Britain: whether it’s backing Andy Murray at Wimbledon, cheering on Team GB at the Olympics, supporting the home nations at the Euros or holding a street party to celebrate the Queen’s 90th.
“These sweets are only available for a limited period, so now’s the perfect time to stock up ahead of summer.”
The patriotic 200g sharing packs have a recommended retail price of £1 each.
