Rebecca Prescott16 Jan 2012

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) in Wales will be making available an e-learning course ‘Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene (Catering)’ to schools in Wales.

This City and Guilds accredited qualification offers students an ideal opportunity to develop important life skills, as well as equipping those hoping to work in the food or catering industry. The course is generally most suitable for students aged 14 and over. Upon successful completion of the training, students are awarded a certificate.

The course is free to schools in Wales, although funding is limited. Applications are invited from schools in Wales able to demonstrate commitment to support student study.

Helen George, leader of the FSA project, said: “The course offers an opportunity for students to enhance their knowledge of food safety, develop important life skills and gain a qualification which is widely recognised within the catering industry.”
