Highland Spring acquires Braes of Glenlivet plant

Perthshire, Scotland based Highland Spring Group has bought the Braes of Glenlivet bottled water plant from Moray Council for more than £400,000. The council said the deal secures around a dozen existing jobs and the long-term future of the plant, which holds the title of Scotland’s highest spring.
Highland Spring took over the lease of the plant in March 2009 when The Speyside Glenlivet Water Company Ltd went into administration. It produces the Speyside Glenlivet brand from the site.
Murray Falconer, Highland Spring Group’s finance director, said: “The purchase of the facility at Braes of Glenlivet adds to the investment we have recently put into the Speyside Glenlivet brand. It will allow us to make further investment in the property which is essential as we foresee significant increases in production in the next few years.”
Councillor John Russell, chairman of Moray Council’s economic development and infrastructure services committee, added: “We are delighted that Highland Spring has made this significant investment and it highlights the importance of the food and drink sector to the economy of Moray.
“Speyside is already synonymous with whisky. This investment in another liquid product underlines the importance of the area to the Moray economy.”
The plant was built in 1992 by the former Grampian Regional Council in conjunction with the Crown Estate.
