Icelandic Glacial hires Paul Day to boost sales in US
Icelandic Glacial has appointed industry veteran Paul Day as director of sales. He will be responsible for leading the sales effort in the northeastern US.
No stranger to the competitive bottled water market, Day has spent more than 14 years in the industry working for brand and beverage leaders DS Waters of America and Big Geyser Inc, one of New York’s largest independent, non-alcoholic beverage distributors.
Icelandic Glacial is the product of Icelandic Water Holdings, located in Ölfus, Iceland. The brand’s environmental position has been enhanced by the company’s plant, which uses geothermal and hydroelectric power.
Kristjan Olafsson, who heads sales for North America for Icelandic Glacial, said: “The northeast is an extremely important region for the brand. The premium nature of Icelandic Glacial fits perfectly with the area’s demographic, delivering exceptionally pure water to the public in an environmentally responsible fashion. Adding Paul to the team gives us a seasoned industry specialist that understands the northeast market inside and out, providing the perfect tools to maximise our current market presence. We’re delighted to have Paul onboard.”
Prior to joining Icelandic Glacial, Day held the position of New York regional sales manager with Jana North America, leading the brand to sustained success in the competitive northeast market.
Commenting on his appointment, Day said: “It’s extremely energising to be involved with Icelandic Glacial. The premium quality of the water and the brands dedication to the environment is a truly inspiring factor, one that holds increasing value with retailers and their customers across the region as they look to embrace more eco-friendly products and practices.”
Icelandic Glacial was named ‘Best Sustainability Initiative’ at the 2007 Water Innovation Awards, formerly called the BottledWaterWorld awards.
