Water and oxygen are elements needed to survive, Czech Republic based OxyLife has decided to try and combine both into a beverage. OxygenWater was an idea floated in 2002 with the company originally selling the oxygenated beverage in a glass bottle.
However, the company found that a glass bottle wasn’t the best packaging for an oxygen-based beverage as it would escape.
The company then began to use cans for their patented beverage, to which they found it much easier to keep the oxygen within.
FoodBev Media’s Darren Wood spoke to Vadim Malgin about the concept, the idea behind creating the company and what aims they have for the future.
Talk about OxyLife and your Oxygen Water product, how did you start up the brand?
It started about ten years ago and with the process of studying how to make oxygen water. We eventually came up with OxyLife. We have been dealing with the question of alternative ways of human body oxygenation on top of breathing (i.e. oxygen therapy). Before creating the idea for the beverage we sold oxygen concentrate and oxygen equipment to hospitals and homes. So, we have a good experience with oxygen and health. After ten years we eventually realised to put our product in cans, we have very stable oxygen in the water, our oxygen stays in the water not in the air.
Talk about the drink, and its ingredients?
The water is the main product for human body, everyone needs to drink water. Oxygen is the same, very important element for the human body and just like water you cant live without oxygen. Because of this we put together these two important elements, of course we have put these together with our patented technology.
How does it differ to conventional water and what are the benefits of drinking it?
In normal water you have approximately 3 to 6 mg of oxygen per litre, but in our product we have 90 milligrams per litre. This oxygen will help to oxygenise our body, our brain and our blood ten times faster than breathing oxygen. The benefits are the same as breathing oxygen but it’s just another way of how your body gets this oxygen and you can gain more.
Who is your target market?
According to my mind our target market is everyone. Everyone needs more oxygen, a lot of us are living busy lives, in offices and places where we can’t get enough oxygen. Our water helps the body to get more oxygen.
Where are you planning to sell the drink?
We are planning to sell the drink in retail areas such as health stores but also fitness centres. Using our product is very good for training and working out, it would be good for people who are into keeping healthy.
What are your plans for the rest of the year?
We plan to gain distributors and export to other countries, we’re from Czech Republic and we’ve just started shipping to our neighbouring countries. We’d love to ship to countries such as the UK, Australia and more. We just want to help people.
