Beam Suntory has added to the flavours available under its Jim Beam brand, launching a Kentucky bourbon blended with Madagascan vanilla bean liqueur.
Jim Beam’s distillers say they “have struck the perfect balance” between the subtle vanilla and deep caramel and oak notes of the bourbon, resulting in a blended whiskey with a sweet vanilla aroma and golden brown colour. It is available in the US now with a recommended retail price of $15.99 for a 750ml bottle.
Master distiller Fred Noe said: “Jim Beam pioneered flavours in the bourbon category several years ago and the trend has continued to grow. We are always innovating, and are proud to offer a variety of flavours in our portfolio. Of course, our newest is Jim Beam vanilla, with a rich and smooth profile. But don’t just take my word for it, sit back and enjoy a sip.”
In vanilla and whiskey, the latest product marries together two flavours that already have an affinity with Coca-Cola, prompting bartenders with early samples of Jim Beam vanilla to recommend it as the base for a whiskey and coke.
The brand’s flavoured whiskey portfolio continues to contribute to the brand’s positive momentum following the launch of Jim Beam apple in 2015, and, according to Nielsen research, saw growth of 15% in the year to July.
Its global brand partner, Mila Kunis, will help promote the latest addition through social and digital content later in the year.
“I’m thrilled to collaborate with my friends in Kentucky to debut Jim Beam vanilla,” said Kunis. “If you’re like me, you love the taste of bourbon but are sometimes looking for something a little different. Jim Beam vanilla is perfect when I want a touch of flavour.”
Bottled at 35% ABV, the blend is available in bars and retail stores across the US.
