British wine maker Kingscote Estate has announced the release of its first ever sparkling wine.
Cuvée Christen has been named in tribute to Christen Monge, the founder of Kingscote Estate, who died in 2015.
The brilliant pale gold colour and pink highlights reflect the unique assemblage of four individual grape varietals, grown and vinified on the Kingscote Estate in West Sussex. The nose is fresh and clean with citrus and lime leaf notes, the company said, while the palate is rich with crisp acidity, intense apple, lemon and hints of white chocolate. The finish is described as “refreshing, lemony with hints of rhubarb”.
“Kingscote’s first ever estate sparkling wine has been produced using a blend of pinot noir, chardonnay, pinot meunier and pinot blanc grapes,” said Owen Elias, Kingscote executive winemaker. “This youthful, fresh and distinctive wine pays tribute to inspirational founder Christen Monge and is named Cuvée Christen in his memory.”
The 12% ABV sparkling wine is available now and can be purchased online or at Kingscote Estate’s shop, priced at £25.99.
