Kronen will launch a range of new technologies at Fruit Logistica in February, including the new Spirello 150 vegetable spiral cutting machine.
The range of new developments from Kronen ‘demonstrate the versatile and modern processing possibilities for fruit and vegetables’ the company said.
It added that the Spirello 150 vegetable spiral cutting machine falls ‘fully in line’ with the vegetarian trend and the rising popularity of vegetable spaghetti – or vegetti. Companies have started to incorporate the foodstuff, once considered a dinner-table novelty, in free-from ready meals and meal pots.
With the machine, large quantities of vegetables – including carrots, potatoes, pumpkins, radishes, beetroot, courgette and celeriac – can be cut in decorative spirals in a quick and clean way.
With up to 680 revolutions per minute, the Spirello 150 cuts vegetables within seconds into metre-long spirals, which can be optionally shortened with a length limit knife by switching intervals between seven different options.
The machine is equipped with removable magazines, one of which can be fitted with the raw product while the vegetable in the second magazine is processed. This means that the Spirello 150 can be operated without interruption, Kronen said.
And the machine features an automatic separation system between product and waste product, producing an overall minimal amount of waste since the vegetable product is cut completely in spirals – except a small piece from the top.
The German firm will exhibit the product at the trade show in Berlin next month.
