Irish cider brand Magners has announced the launch of a new apple cider that features a hint of smooth Irish whiskey.
Magners with Irish Whiskey will launch in the beginning of February and contains 25ml of 5.5%-alcohol Irish whiskey in every 500ml bottle. The company claimed that it was meeting high consumer demand for “innovation in the cider category”, with spirit-ciders becoming an increasingly popular market trend.
Earlier this month, we reported that market research company Canadean was urging cider manufacturers to “do more to enhance the appeal of cider in the UK”, including through the introduction of new fusion ciders.
Ed Shoebridge, head of customer marketing at C&C Group, said: “Magners has been at the forefront of cider innovations since it revolutionised the cider category in the nineties with its over-ice serve, and today we are introducing another game changer, Magners with Irish Whiskey. “Consumers’ appetite for new flavours in cider keeps growing and we believe our new Magners with Irish Whiskey will offer a unique flavour both for whiskey lovers and cider lovers looking for something new.”
