Independent coffee roasting company Matthew Algie has launched three new coffee blends as part of its hand-roasted collection.
They include a Brazilian single origin blend labelled Fazenda Santa Lucia, which Matthew Algie describes as “the perfect balance of sweetness, toast and a hint of fruit on the finish”.
The company is also launching an espresso blend called Balthazar’s Brew and a second single origin called Tana Toraja. The latter is described as “a fragrant, full-bodied single origin [that] boasts a super-clean palate and soft mouthfeel”, while Balthazar’s Brew provides “the perfect balance of sweet and spice”. Both are cultivated in Indonesia and fall under the jurisdiction of Matthew Algie’s ethical sourcing policy.
The company said: “All Matthew Algie coffee is ethically sourced and traceable, but what makes our hand-roasted coffees different is the direct sourcing of the most outstanding one-off micro-lots, often an entire crop, from individual farmers. Each carefully selected hand-roasted coffee celebrates an individual farm’s unique terroir.”
The company’s products are available at Earthy Foods in Edinburgh, outlets of the G1 Group in Scotland, and a handful of restaurants and hotels in London, Dorset, Dundee and Northern Ireland. The two new single origin blends are packaged in 250g packs, while Balthazar’s Brew espresso is available in 500g.
