A marketing coup for Unilever’s Peperami, fighting back to National Vegetarian Week in the UK with a study that discovers that 81% of men believe they would be lost without meat in their diet. Mind you, it is launching Peperami emergency meat packs, which could explain quite a lot.
However I just love the extreme list of things men would rather give up than meat – see below!
A spokesman for Peperami, which commissioned the research, said: “Meat is an important part of most people’s diet and it seems that there are a lot of things men would rather give up than go meat free.
“These results show that men would prefer to kiss goodbye to their mobile phones, sex and their partners before becoming a vegetarian.
“So forget National Vegetarian Week and Meat Free Monday; it’s evident that red-blooded males who love meat still exist, and they won’t be giving up meat anytime soon.
“For those who can’t bear the thought of Meat Free Monday, we’ll be celebrating Free Meat Mondays by taking to the streets and offering meat lovers free Peperamis to get them through the day.”
The study of 1,000 men found nearly seven in ten feel that meat is a must at every meal time, and more than a third would be happier to delete their Facebook profile than give up their meaty foods and snacks.
Who would have thought it? In an office poll most of the women said they could give up meat but would not particularly want to. A few are already vegetarian but the men are meat eaters one and all – interesting!
I’m now waiting to hear from all you vegetarian males out there – let me know your favourite veggie meal – or your favourite veggie restaurant – mine is Acorn here in Bath – and I’m definitely a meat eater!
