Australian company Milkovation has launched a new range of probiotic starter cultures under the Vivo brand in Australia and New Zealand.
The five probiotic starter cultures contain unique blends of probiotic bacteria sourced from suppliers in France, Germany and Denmark. The yogurt, bifivit, kefir, vitalact and symbilact formats are described on pack as being “suitable for making homemade fresh-tasting yogurt and fermented milk”.
The launch expands the availability of Vivo’s probiotic starter cultures, which are already available in Europe, where Milkovation claimed awareness of the health benefits of probiotics was highest.
Milkovation’s Vivo cultures contain live probiotic bacteria in quantities of 1–10bn/g and are suitable for dairy and non-dairy eaters; direct consumption with food and drink; and consumers of all ages. They are also gluten-, allergen- and GMO-free.
A brand spokesperson said: “For centuries people in Caucus have believed that fermented dairy products containing live active cultures offer health benefits. Recent controlled scientific investigations from around the world support these traditional views, suggesting that probiotics can be valuable part of a healthy diet.”
