Mizone sports water relaunched by Frucor in Australia

Frucor Beverages in Australia has relaunched Mizone Formulated Sports Water, a product it claims enables the body to rehydrate 16% faster than the leading isotonic sports drink on the market. The company worked with The Saltmine Design Group to develop the improved formula, pack design and product website.

Mizone Formulated Sports Water has been scientifically engineered by a specialist team of nutrition and sports experts to keep consumers active. The beverage contains four B vitamins, electrolytes, carbohydrates and antioxidant vitamin C to unlock energy in the body and provide faster hydration. It doesn’t contain any artificial colours or preservatives and contains a third less sugar than other sport drinks.

Brand nutritionist Jenny Yee Collinson said that while water is sufficient to keep your body hydrated and replenish fluids that are lost throughout the day, essential minerals and salts that are lost in perspiration are not found in water.

“Staying hydrated is essential for your body to maintain blood volume, regulate body temperature and for muscles to function properly,” she said. “Along with water, your body needs electrolytes, which are salts normally found in the blood, other fluids, and body cells to stay hydrated.”

Dehydration causes a gradual reduction in mental and physical performance; the heart will beat faster and the core body temperature will rise. Other effects of dehydration include dizziness, dull headaches, loss of muscle strength due to increased lactic acid, slower reaction times, reduced concentration and decreased decision-making ability.

“Although there are no official guidelines on how much water you should drink to stay hydrated, as a guide, women may require about 2.1 litres and men about 2.6 litres of water each day. Your fluid requirements will also depend on the climate, how active you are and how much you lose as sweat.”

Mizone Formulated Sports Water is available in four varieties

  • lime
  • blackcurrant
  • mandarin
  • raspberry.

It’s available at major supermarkets and leading independent stores in Australia.
