Molson Coors has announced plans to roll out its premium apple lager brand Mad Jack nationally across the Canadian market.
The award-winning beer will be available in grocery stores and selected beer retailers from next month. The 5% alcohol by volume beverage is made using malt and natural flavours, and is free from preservatives. It will be available in a number of packaging formats, including four-pack, six-pack and single 473ml cans; 12-pack 355ml cans; and six-pack 341ml bottles.
The product debuted last year in Ontario and Quebec, achieving “one of the highest ever conversion rates from trial to purchase” for any new product from the US-based brewer.
Molson Coors claimed that Mad Jack’s introduction would present consumers with “new flavour options for their beer, specifically apple – a category that continues to rise in popularity among drinkers”. It also cited figures that suggested apple was a preferred flavour innovation of almost a third of consumers as evidence for the product’s demand.
Kristi Knowles, vice president of innovation, insights and portfolio strategy for Molson Coors, said: “The response from Ontario and Quebec drinkers has been unanimously positive. With a crisp apple taste that’s light in body with a smooth, clean finish, Mad Jack has a taste that’s refreshingly different. Beer drinkers and non-beer drinkers have quickly taken a liking to Mad Jack and we can’t wait for the rest of Canada to get the opportunity to taste one of our best-received products in years.”
