UK alcohol importer Morgenrot has bolstered its portfolio of world beers with the addition of Mediterranean lager Cisk.
The new lager, brewed and packaged in Malta by Farsons since 1929, will be available to the UK’s on-trade in 30 litre kegs and 33cl bottles. It will be debuted at the show Pub 17, which is to be held at London’s Olympia next month.
The 4.2% Cisk beer is a bottom-fermented lager with a golden colour, and is described as having ‘a distinctive and well-balanced character’. Its rich hop aroma and pleasant bitterness, Morgenrot said, makes it a perfect thirst quencher as the summer months approach.
Morgenrot commercial director John Critchley said: “We’re delighted to add Cisk to our burgeoning world beer portfolio and feel that Pub17 is the perfect place to launch the beer to the trade. Cisk is a premium imported Mediterranean lager and is a great fit for us.
“With the summer already on the horizon, we’re confident the brewery’s pursuit of quality and unique heritage will be a popular choice for operators and consumers.”
The 30 litre kegs have a list price of £89.19 and the bottles come in cases of 24, priced at £23.81.
Farsons director Michael Farrugia said: “It’s great to be working with a company like Morgenrot, which has a proven track record of launching and growing world beer brands, especially in the UK on-trade. We’re confident that with our beer’s quality and Morgenrot’s energy and expertise, we can do amazing things in the UK market.”
