In the Philippines, used PET bottles are being refilled with water and are inserted into corrugated roofing to diffuse daylight in thousands of the poorest people’s windowless homes.

Properly installed, a simple PET 1-litre bottle can produce 50-60 watts of light without electricity. It’s known as the ‘Litre of Light’ project.
