Tea brand PG Tips has illuminated the tower of Big Ben in London with its mascot, Monkey, in order to celebrate the coming of the Chinese year of the monkey.
The spectacle “kicked off the biggest Chinese New Year celebrations outside of Asia,” the brand said. He has previously been seen scaling the top of The Shard, a skyscraper in the city.
Kate Hearn, senior brand manager for PG Tips, said: “By tapping into the cultural event of Chinese New Year, and celebrating 2016 being the year of the monkey, PG tips was presented with the perfect opportunity to kick off celebrations in the capital and raise brand awareness. This year, consumers can expect to see much more of Monkey as we continue to unleash him from the kitchen and into the real world to remind the nation to ‘Keep It Tea’.”
