And the current harvest has delivered over twice the volume compared to the start of the 2010 season, according to British Summer Fruits, which represents the sector.
It expects the raspberry season to peak on 26 June, with 100% of raspberries on supermarket shelves being home-grown.
Ample supplies of British raspberries will be available through to the end of September.
“April and May’s uncharacteristically warm weather, the lack of frosts and good pollination means that this year’s bumper raspberry crop isn’t only early but the fruit’s also sweeter and juicier,” said Laurence Olins, chairman of British Summer Fruits.
Met Office forecaster Barry Gromett said: “We’ve certainly had an extraordinarily dry spring, and June will continue to show fine spells of weather with temperatures expected to remain in the high teens and lower 20s.”
Raspberries continue to be one of Britain’s favourite berries with more than 9,000 tonnes selling last summer.
