Stockholm Commercial Court judges have ordered Swedish drinks distributor SM Group to stop supplying its drink in the country after ruling the design and colour of its logo – a bat – strongly resembled the Salzburg company’s product.??
This verdict will be a relief for the firm founded and headed by Dietrich Mateschitz as its bid to dominate the Swedish energy drink market has also been hit by calls for an introduction of age limits on energy drink purchases.??
There is currently no general age limit for the purchase of the drinks in the country, but several supermarket chains including Willys, Pressbyran and 7-Eleven set their own limits last year.??
Results of a study released in December revealed around 80% of 700 interviewed Swedish school nurses said they were in favour of a nationwide age limit for energy drinks like Red Bull.??
