Robert Wiseman Dairies sets tough sustainability targets

Shaun Weston28 Sep 2010

Using 2010 figures as a benchmark, and targeting improvements by 2015, Robert Wiseman Dairies aims to reduce gas used per tonne of milk processed by 30%. Electricity and water usage will be cut by a quarter, and fuel by 15%.

MD Billy Keane said: “The drive for greater efficiency has been at the heart of Wiseman’s ethos for many years, and it has put our business in an industry leading position in terms of its environmental impact.

“There’s a powerful link between better environmental performance and improvements in efficiency and profitability, and our Sustainability Report provides details as to what we believe can be achieved in the next five years.

“This is about taking our whole network of dairies and depots to the next stage in terms of our competitiveness, while continuing to making major inroads into our impact on the environment. The targets are stretching and we may not achieve everything we set out to do, but we will be open and transparent in sharing the progress that we make.”
