The company supplies its product to schools through federal nutrition programs and to a baby food maker.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) contends that the method used by Snokist Growers is ineffective at making the food safe for human consumption. However, the company claims that their heating process is more than adequate to render the product commercially sterile.
This recent FDA warning came after Snokist failed to address issues discovered during a June inspection in which regulators found fruit products with white, brown, blue, blue-green, and black mould, notes MSNBC.
