Shipley Dessert Company invests for growth

Rebecca Prescott23 Jan 2012

Shipley based bakers and pâtissiers, Just Desserts, suppliers of handmade desserts and pastries to the hospitality and foodservice sector, has invested a five figure sum in new, state of the art equipment to support its growth plans.

The company, which is currently trading at 25% ahead of its 2010 performance, has doubled its capacity with a new energy efficient freezer, enabling the business to service an increased customer base.

Just Desserts commissioned Leeds based refrigeration contractor, Kirwin Refrigeration to design a bespoke commercial freezer which would upgrade and modernise its existing processes. A family run business, Kirwin Refrigeration provides refrigeration solutions to the private and public sector, with clients including Leeds University and Bradford Hospital.

James O’Dwyer, MD, Just Desserts, said: “We are enjoying an encouraging period of growth in spite of the current economic climate and in order to meet customer demand we needed to invest in new equipment to enable us to respond quicker to increased customer needs and to carry greater stock levels of key lines. The freezer has improved thermal efficiency and allows us to reduce our carbon footprint and to operate more economically and cost effectively.”
