Sri Lanka to create state run water bottler
It has been reported that the government of Sri Lanka has decided to establish a state run company to produce bottled and containerised safe water.
A government statement said that a pilot project initiated to provide potable bottled water for drinking and cooking purposes had been successful, adding: “It has been observed that non-availability of safe drinking water in certain areas in the country such as North Central province has resulted in the spread of chronic kidney disease".
The state water bottler will be a subsidiary of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board, according to news360lk.
