Straus Family Creamery has doubled the size of its organic Greek yogurt range with the addition of two new products.
The whole-milk vanilla and low-fat plain yogurts are the latest to join the dairy company’s growing range, which also includes a line-up of nine European-style yogurts in flavours such as vanilla, maple and blueberry-pomegranate.
It follows growing interest in both organic and whole-milk dairy, with Greek and other so-called ‘origin yogurts’ achieving 8% sales growth across the US in 2016. Amid rising demand, Tillamook Creamery last month launched its own offering into the whole-milk category.
Straus Family Creamery founder and chief executive officer Albert Straus said: “We’ve received very positive feedback about our organic European-style yogurts, which we launched in the 1990s. Our Greek yogurt line was created to give our customers additional choices of thicker and higher-protein Greek offerings. All of our yogurts are crafted with organic milk and active, live cultures – and without any thickeners or stabilisers.
“We incubate our yogurt in stainless steel vats and fill our recyclable plastic containers with cooled yogurt. Similar to our European style, our Greek yogurts are slowly cultured and vat-set, but the Greek yogurts are carefully strained to create a thicker texture.”
