The Naked Marshmallow Co. has launched a nine-flavour range of handmade marshmallow using only natural flavours and colours.
The artisan confectionery is available in vanilla, eton mess, salted caramel, candy floss, bubblegum, lemon meringue, coconut, fruits of the forest and peppermint and dark chocolate variants. The Naked Marshmallow Co. retains its handcrafted tradition by using only fresh and natural ingredients, cutting the marshmallow by hand.
The UK-based start-up was founded in 2014 by friends Ollie Rendall and Joseph Colson. It has recently upgraded to an industrial stand mixer and has revealed plans to move into a new kitchen, after having started with a borrowed mixer and a borrowed kitchen. The duo showcased their products at the International Food and Drink Event in London last month.
“Rendall, 24, was working at a Lincolnshire call centre, making marshmallows in his spare time, when colleagues began asking him to make some for them,” reported the London-based Daily Mail.
“Soon he was making more money from his kitchen sideline that his day job. So he and his friend Joseph Colson, 23, set up The Naked Marshmallow Co. in Lincoln just before Christmas.
“Now they make 4,000 marshmallows a day, sending out at least 1,000 orders a week.”
Rendall told the newspaper: “We sometimes have to work through the night to fulfil all our orders. Business is fantastic.”
